The Dallas Metroplex is burgeoning with towns constantly expanding to entice groups. For instance, Fort Worth has welcomed the high-tech Sinclair Hotel, and in Irving (above), the Omni Mandalay is undergoing a major renovation to its 35,000 square feet of meeting space and public areas.
Other properties in development for the city are the 252-room AC Hotel by Marriott, opening this year; a 232-room Kimpton hotel, to debut in summer 2021; and the 240-room Sandman Signature Hotel, for which an opening date has yet to be set.
Dickies Arena is now open in the Will Rogers Memorial Center Complex. Ten minutes from downtown, the 14,000-seat arena hosts the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, concerts, sporting events and more.
The historic Stockyards district is getting a makeover, with work already proceeding on the first phase of the $175 million project. Among the plans, an Autograph Collection hotel is planned for the area, to debut in spring 2020 with 200 rooms, 15,000 square feet of meeting space and an elegant event barn. In addition, a rustic resort called the Hotel Drover will be built at the end of Mule Alley's planned street of shops, eateries, offices and live-entertainment venues.
