Work has begun on Firefly Park in Frisco, Texas, a $2 billion-plus project 10 years in the making. Construction has begun on the mixed-use property, which will feature a 191-room Dream Hotel, as well as plenty of retail and restaurant establishments, event spaces, a 45-acre park and more.
Frisco North Development, a subsidiary of Wilks Development, received approval from the city in September on three sets of plans for the project, allowing work to start on Firefly Park's infrastructure and land excavation.
Among the details for the complex, which will begin opening in 2027, are:
- 1,200 hotel rooms;
- event space with a courtyard surrounded by water;
- a stage with an event lawn that will hold up to 3,000 people;
- 400,000 square feet of retail, food-and-beverage, and entertainment spaces;
- a 45-acre park with more than 7 miles of trails and five ponds, as well as fishing decks and playgrounds;
- More than 3,000,000 square feet of class “A” office space; and
- 1,970 residential mid-rise and high-rise units, and 230 townhomes.
