The 297-room AT&T Hotel and Conference Center in Austin, Texas, will begin a comprehensive $30 million renovation of its more than 85,000 square feet of meeting space in the spring of 2025.

The renovation is timed to finish up next summer so the property can offer its refreshed event spaces to groups during the closure of the Austin Convention Center, which will be undergoing a complete redesign and expansion. With advanced meeting technology and more collaboration-focused features, the hotel will offer ‘campus-style miniwides’ along with its seven partner hotels in the University Hotel Collection near the University of Texas.

Design and technology enhancements

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center’s new aesthetic will embrace a contemporary Texan style. Key design and technology upgrades include:

  • A new junior ballroom, expanding the hotel’s event capabilities;
  • Advanced audiovisual technology, including beamforming microphones; and
  • Redesigned foyers that bring in more natural light and encourage collaboration.

The renovation will be spearheaded by the property's original architects, Texas-based Lake Flato, in collaboration with interior designers Waldrop + Nichols Studio.

“This is the University of Texas; change starts here. It’s about evolving our space to better serve our guests while honoring our connection to the university and Austin’s unique culture,” said Alison Berg, general manager of AT&T Hotel and Conference Center. “We’re excited to provide an elevated experience that blends tradition and innovation.”

The hotel and conference center will remain open throughout the renovation.

Aside from the plentiful meeting space, the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center features two full-service restaurants, the fine-dining Carillon and the more casual Gabriel's Café, plus counter-service quick bites at the Moontower Café and coffee and grab-and-go options at the One Twenty 5 Café.
